Food as Medicine

As Hippocrates said: “Let Food be thy Medicine and Medicine be Thy Food.”

And, somewhere along the way we have moved very far away from that ideology and have chosen synthetic and chemical medicine to ” help” us instead of embracing what Mother Nature has abundantly provided us.

Of course, there is a time and place for medication.

We do not need to go down that rabbit hole In today’s post.

I will just say this: I respect doctors, dentists, surgeons, etc….I also respect, Naturopaths, Acupuncturists, Holistic Healers, Mother Earth, Herbologists, Homeopaths, and Alternative Medicine practitioners.

Time and place…always a time and place.

Below is a collection of articles I have found useful over the years. I thought I would share them with you today, if you are inclined to review alternative resources.

  1. I suffer from the below listed conditions:
    Allergic disorders
Urinary tract infections (and intersistial cystitis)
    Chronic inflammatory disorders
    Imbalanced immune function
I am going to try making fermented vegetables. But is there any brand ready made that you would recommend.

    1. Hi Nancy! Fermented foods, especially sauerkraut would be a great way to supplement your body with foods rich in probiotic goodness!

Here is one of my favorite company’s for all food healthy, especially their fermented sauerkraut:

      Tropical Tranditions
Bubbie’s is a brand that we always have in our fridge. They have naturally fermented sauerkraut as well delicious pickles. You should also be able to easily find Bubbie’s in your grocery store.

Also, if you are going to try and make your own, which hubby and I used to do pre-kiddos, I highly recommend The Wellness Mama’s recipe here:

Let me know how it goes mama!
